Unit 1: We can be together for love

Act 1: Getting to know each other

One day, during lunch break at the factory, Jiao Niang is flipping through
magazines and dramas about Taiwan in the lounge.She recalls saying “yes” to
the proposal from Jun Rong, a guy who had come to Indonesia from Taiwan to
work. Although Jiao Niang was very happy about the upcoming marriage, she
was also worried about leaving her hometown and living in an unfamiliar
country.

Act 2: The wedding and packing up

The day before leaving Indonesia, Jiao Niang's mother comes to the hotel to
accompany her. While she is relieved that her future son-in-law is diligently
following Indonesian customs for the wedding, she can't help but worry about her
daughter leaving home and 31 living alone in a foreign place. Jiao Niang
comforts her mother, telling her not to worry so much as Jun Rong will help
her in Taiwan, and promises to call home frequently.
