Scene 3: Seeking advice from the sister-in-law
After returning home, Jiao Niang had a chat with her sister-in-law, A Xi,
about child-rearing and how to communicate with the grandparents. A Xi
shared her past experience and reassured Jiao Niang that she used to worry
about inconveniencing others and hesitated to ask for help, but soon realized
that her family was more than willing to help and share responsibility for
taking care of the children. And this benefits the children too; they receive
care and love from more people. After listening to A Xi, Jiao Niang
had some ideas.
Scene 4: Happiness follows
The next morning, the whole family enjoyed breakfast together,
and both the grandfather and grandmother showed great concern
Xiao Long. Thankfully, after taking some medicine and proper rest, he
was back to normal. The grandmother took the opportunity to remind the
grandfather not to take Xiao Long out too often after school. They had a
chat about caring for the child, and everyone was able to express their
thoughts and what to do next. While helping tidying up, Jiao Niang thanked
her sister-in-law for their conversation the other day as it helped alleviate her
anxiety. From this situation, Jiao Niang realized that her fear of inconve-
niencing others had prevented her from truly relaxing. But by talking it
through, she understood she had the support of her husband, her
sister-in-law, and love from her family so there was no problem
expressing her thoughts and finding a suitable caregiving approach
that worked for her. Just like the grandmother always says,
"You're good, I'm good, everyone's good!"
